Und noch ein neues Gesicht bei uns am Gym!
Hi, I'm Jessica and I'm the Native English Assistant here in Laa, working in the Gymnasium and the HAK/HAS. I arrived in October and I will be here until the end of May.
I come from a city in North-West England called Preston, which is near to Manchester and Liverpool, and I am proud to have a 'Northern' accent (unfortunetly I don't speak like the Queen!!). I am the eldest of a very large family - My Dad, Step Mum, 2 Step brothers (13 and 16) and 1 Step sister (15) live in Preston, England......and my Mum, Step Dad, 2 sisters (19 and 6) and brother (7) live in Perth, Australia. Luckily I can spend all my holidays from university in Australia - I prefer the weather much more.
I am teaching in Austria as part of my degree in German, French and Phonetics and I am hoping to improve my German!! I attend 'Leeds Metropolitan University' and during the semester I live in Leeds with all my friends. I am a typical girl and student who loves shopping, socialising and travelling - my Mum says I should be in 'Sex and the City'.
So far I am LOVING Austria and Laa, I have met some great people and made lots of friends. I have be able to taste lots of new food ( I love Schnitzel and Erdapfelsalat!!!) and experience Austrian traditions. It is a pleasure to be an assistant in two fantastic schools with such lovely pupils and colleagues. I hope that the last half of my stay is fun and I will be very reluctant to leave in June.
